How about that drive in?
Time is money. And in Buffalo, thanks to an average commute of 21.8 minutes, you’ve got a lot more of it to do whatever it is you enjoy.
We asked folks that chose to move to Buffalo about how much time they’ve saved with their new commute and how they’re choosing to spend it.

Royce L. Woods
Vice President, Community Development Lending | Citizens Bank
From Atlanta, GA
Commute: ~2 hrs→10 min
In Atlanta, Royce's commute ran nearly two hours each way. He lived in College Park, south of the city, and worked in Norcross. The 28 miles of interstate between them rarely cooperated. In Buffalo, that same round trip takes 20 minutes. The 15 to 20 hours he gets back each week are entirely committed to two things: being present as a father and getting into the best shape of his life. In the hours between 6 and 8 AM, and again from 6 to 8 PM, he's either in a rigorous workout or on the sideline coaching his son's sports teams.
"Buffalo is the only place I've ever lived that has its own call-sign. Anywhere you go in the world, if you chant 'HEY-EY-EY-EY' and someone within earshot has ever spent time here, they'll respond."

Isabell Trevino
Associate Project Manager | AAA Western & Central New York
From Midlothian, TX
Commute: 50 min→23 min
Isabell grew up just south of Dallas in a suburb called Midlothian, about 30 minutes outside the city. Moving to Buffalo cut her commute nearly in half, and the time she's reclaimed after work has gone toward pilates. She now teaches three classes a week after her 9-to-5.
"I love Buffalo for its buzz of professional connections and its mix of nature and history, paired with the friendly familiarity of tight-knit communities and the support of local businesses."

Jeroen Vunderink
Chief Architect | M&T Bank
From the Netherlands
Commute: 1.5 hrs→45 min
Jeroen made the leap from the Netherlands to Western New York. With his extra time, he's taken up Krav Maga at SPAR Self Defense in Williamsville. He sums up his new city with the kind of efficiency an architect would appreciate.
"All the power of a big city. All within 20 minutes. That's Buffalo."

Mike Gross
COO | Kredit Academy
From Philadelphia, PA
Commute: 35 min→14 min
Mike cut his commute by more than half coming from Philly, and his family has felt every minute of it. Almost every weekend, he and his kids are out at Delaware Park, the Buffalo Science Museum, or a BPS Saturday Academy. His wife has taken to Reform Fitness Lagree classes nearly every day.
"This city really lives up to the moniker 'The City of Good Neighbors.' It's been wonderful to find people and places that are friendly, welcoming, and a joy to be around."

Liz Kotoulis
Chief Growth Officer | Twipes
From Boston, MA
Commute: 45 min→5 min
Liz didn't just shorten her commute. She eliminated it. She lives and works in Seneca One Tower, so her commute is an elevator ride. The time she's gotten back is going toward the small stuff, and one big one – sleeping in, laundry, and planning her wedding.
"Buffalonians support local business and want to see their neighbors thriving. The local food scene is my favorite way this shines through, and how many cities can say that almost every bar in the country has their city's food on the menu?"

Al Bozorgi
CEO & Co-Founder | Twipes
From London, England
Commute: 1 hr 10 min→18 min
Al made one of the longer journeys on this list, not just in distance but in daily pace. Moving from London to Buffalo's East Side cut his commute by more than an hour. He's channeled that time into giving back. Last year he served on the board of a local nonprofit art gallery, and this year he's mentoring student entrepreneurs at colleges across the country, from Clark University in Massachusetts to FIU in Florida to WVU in West Virginia.
"The sun doesn't always shine in Buffalo, but the people do."

Ramiro Roballos
CEO | Tukki
From Miami, FL
Commute: 45 min→20 min
Coming from Miami, Ramiro wasn't expecting Buffalo to slow things down in the best possible way. With the time he's reclaimed, he's gone deep into sim racing, a hobby that's equal parts competitive and meditative. He's also found that Buffalo's reputation is well-earned.
"'City of Good Neighbors' is a really well-earned name."
