The company plans significant hiring as it builds out a new Amherst headquarters and charts a course to become a dominant player in its field.
Amherst-based RoutingBox started as an internal software tool supporting medical transportation services.
It evolved in recent years into a fast-growing software company, with customers in 40 states and 25 local employees.
Now its journey is taking another significant turn.
RoutingBox recently closed a $30 million growth equity round from Phase Line Growth Partners, giving the company new resources to pursue national growth while building its future in Western New York.
“We had an opportunity with this transaction to think carefully about where we wanted to build the next chapter of RoutingBox, and we chose Buffalo,” said Paul Snyder IV, CEO and co-founder of RoutingBox and CEO of Founders Holding Co. “This is where the company was created, where we have built an exceptional team and where we believe we can continue building a nationally significant technology company. We intend to compete across the country while continuing to invest, hire and grow here in Western New York.”

RoutingBox now joins a growing list of Buffalo companies hitting significant growth milestones this year, including Ognomy’s $20 million Series A, Food Nerd’s $7.5 million seed round, Viridi’s vast expansion, Azuna’s $100 million revenue threshold, Ingram Micro’s aggressive expansion in downtown Buffalo and many others.
RoutingBox recently acquired a building on Millersport Highway in Amherst that will become its new headquarters. Snyder said headcount is expected to expand steadily as the company invests across software development, artificial intelligence, product, sales, customer success and corporate functions, while continuing to recruit nationally for specialized roles.
The company will also proactively pursue acquisitions that could bring additional work and jobs to Buffalo.
RoutingBox was initially created by parent company Founders Software, owned by Snyder, his father and David Puehn, who is also RoutingBox’s CTO. The group will retain significant equity in RoutingBox, while Snyder and Puehn will remain in their roles to drive the company’s next era of growth.
RoutingBox provides the technology infrastructure for non-emergency medical transportation providers, which use its tools to manage dispatching, routing, drivers, GPS and broker compliance, billing and client coordination.
Its product suite includes RoutingBox, its core dispatch and fleet management platform; MedBatch, its Medicaid billing and claims platform; and ClientLink, its web-based portal connecting transportation providers with healthcare organizations and other trip sponsors.
“RoutingBox has now reached an important inflection point,” said Todd Fletcher, co-founder and managing partner of Phase Line Growth Partners. “The company has built a deeply embedded platform in a large market that is becoming increasingly dependent on technology. We see an opportunity to combine what Paul and the team have already built with additional capital, talent and operating resources to create the national category leader.”
The investment gives RoutingBox the resources to pursue that ambition from Western New York.
As it scales nationally, the company expects to expand its Buffalo-area team across engineering, artificial intelligence, product, sales, customer success and corporate functions, creating opportunities for experienced technology professionals as well as graduates of Western New York colleges and universities.
For RoutingBox, keeping that growth anchored here is deliberate.
“There is no reason a nationally important software company can’t be built in Buffalo,” Snyder said. “Western New York has outstanding universities, a strong business community and talented people who want to build their careers here. What we want to create is the opportunity to work on ambitious technology, serve customers across the country and help build a category-leading company without having to leave Western New York.”
