The world's first ambulatory center for neurosurgery is in Buffalo

"The world’s first and only Ambulatory Neurosurgery Center is transforming neuroscience care that everywhere else still requires an intensive care unit (ICU), an overnight stay, and a small army of hospital-based health care professionals.."

Led by renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Elad Levy, a new Ambulatory Neurosurgery Center debuted recently in Buffalo.

The center is capable of combining the complex mosaic of procedures that involve the brain, spine and neuromuscular system that typically require a stay in the Intensive Care Unit into a same-day surgery.

"Innovation does not happen in a vacuum; it requires the alchemy of unique skill sets simmering together in a cauldron of unabashed vision and unified grit," Levy said in a recent article in Buffalo-based literary journal traffic east.

The article tracks the innovative project from its inception to delivery, holding Buffalo out as the template for a new model of efficient care.
