RadEmploy already hiring in Buffalo as AI platform scales

The national push to connect radiology professionals with large hospital systems starts in Buffalo

Joel Horsford has done it all in radiology, from operating the x-rays to managing sites to serving as a C-suite operational specialist.

Now he wants to solve the industry’s biggest problem: staffing.

Horsford founded RadEmploy in July 2024 to connect radiology professionals with large hospital systems. The platform uses AI-driven conversations to qualify candidates, gather detailed information and move them into roles faster than traditional staffing models.

The company has strong traction as it begins to intentionally scale its customer base throughout the U.S. RadEmploy won a $1 million investment from the 43North accelerator in Buffalo and is now establishing Buffalo as an operational base.

“Eighty-five percent of hospitals today are understaffed in radiology,” Joel said. “I’ve lived that as a technologist and as an executive trying to hire. Our mission is to cut that number down and build stronger workforce infrastructure for health systems.”

RadEmploy founder and CEO Joel Horsford pitches his company at the 43North competition in October 2025.

Among the early signals:

  • RadEmploy’s network now includes thousands of imaging professionals.
  • The company works with large enterprise health systems and regional centers across multiple states.
  • Clients often begin with short pilots and convert to multi-year contracts.

RadEmploy has already made its first Buffalo hire after interviewing more than 40 candidates. The plan calls for two to three additional hires in year one across operations and recruitment.

Horsford is also engaging local hospital systems and educational partners as the company integrates into the region’s healthcare ecosystem.

By 2026, RadEmploy expects to operate in more than 10 states. Buffalo is the base for that push.

“Radiology employers can’t hire fast enough to meet patient needs,” Horsford said. “That’s been a big part of my inspiration behind building the platform, just how much it impacts the employees who are burnt out and the general public which can’t get seen in the time they need.”
